DHQ Hospital Bahawalnagar in 1953 had 74 beds. And Mr. Haji Abdul Wahid was the first Medical Superintendent. It is located in the center of the city. It is on Main Arifwala Road. The catchment area includes the entire district of Bahawalnagar which includes the adjoining areas of Pakpattan and Vehari districts. The total area of ??the hospital is 52 acres and 4 kanals. In 1966, with the addition of 40 beds, the number increased to 114. In 1968, a 36-bed TB ward was set up and the number of beds increased to 150 beds. In 1976, the number of beds increased to 175 with the expense of the surgical ward. In 1996, new OPD blocks and emergency blocks were created. With the addition of 60 beds in I, ENT, Children Ward and Cardiology Ward in 2001.
